Meet Dr. Barnett...

Dr. Barnett grew up in northern Indiana, graduated from Warsaw Community HS, Indiana Central College (now University of Indianapolis), the Indiana University School of Dentistry and spent two years in the Public Health Service connected with the US Coast Guard.  During his time on active duty, he was involved in early research that studied bonded composite (white) restoration material while he developed clinical skills in all areas of general dentistry.  In 1974 he returned to his native state to establish his practice in Elwood to serve the community not just as a dentist but also as an active community member. In addition to his membership in his dental professional organizations (East Central Dental Society [where he served as chairman of the Peer Review Committee, Indiana Dental Association] Indiana Dental Association and the American Dental Association) he is also involved in civic activities.  He is a life member of Optimist International and was the President of the Elwood morning Optimist Club, is active in the United Methodist Church, served on the YMCA board, is a 20 year 4-H rocket club leader and currently works with the Morresett Center on fund raising projects.  He is an IHSAA swim official and can regularly be seen officiating at both HS and Jr. High meets in Elwood and the surrounding pools where he takes special interest in the development of the young athletics.  He is also interested in all other high school and college sports and can talk basketball and football at length.  He and his wife enjoy walking in the Mini-Marathon in Indianapolis and the attendant training that goes with it and they are avid ballroom dancers. They have two grown children and one granddaughter (watch out for the pictures) all of whom he takes great pride in being with.
